August is my favorite month because all of the once barren corn fields are now bursting with lush green stalks boasting some terrific ears of corn. We eat corn at least 3 times a week in the summertime so, I am constantly looking for inventive ways to get those kernels onto the dinner table. Gingered Sweet Corn with Lime
I want to hit the rewind button on summer. It's moving way too quickly. But, one of the only reasons I look forward to the last month of summer is for the bountiful harvest of sweet summer corn that adorns the markets, farm stands and summer menus. Amaize Sweet Corn
Some of my fondest childhood summer memories were my car drives with Mom on late August afternoons. We’d search high and low to find the farmer on the side of the road selling the freshest crop of Silver Queen corn out of the back of his pick up truck. Mom would scavenge through all the ears, pull out pieces and prove to me first-hand that the higher the quality of sweet corn, the greater the chance of ear worms. Corn Cake
With the holiday weekend upon us who isn’t looking for a relaxing weekend of sun, swimming and some BBQ? Since I live in a city apartment and don’t have access to cooking outdoors year round, I can’t wait to get behind a grill this weekend to simply grill some burgers and chicken—nothing fancy.
