We are on a slow cooker roll, and a chili bender too.  If you’ve got a good thing going in the kitchen, why stop it?  I know it sounds obvious but making simple tweaks to a “kid-approved” recipe will probably create another new dish that’ll pass the test with your most discerning underage critics. Butternut Squash Risotto

Contrary to my children and husband, I don’t eat a lot of carbs.  I’m more of a protein and veggies girl but, if you ask my daughter, she could live off of pasta and rice for the rest of her existence.  So, when I’m trying to diversify our dinnertime routine, I’m always looking for options that I know will be a home run with my kids –like risotto. It’s finally feeling like mid-fall here on the east coast - crisp cool days, fleeces, warm drinks, blankets on the beds. Chicken Potpie

I remember eating chicken pot pies in the lunchroom at school.  There was something so intriguing and mysterious about each student having their own little miniature pie-baked meal.  They were a welcomed hearty meal usually served on a cold winter's day.
