Stouffer’s Farmer’s Harvest Steam Meals = No Fuss Dishes

I have spent the past eight months trying to undo what I characterized as bad meal-related habits.  I now plan out my meals for the week, I only have one big shopping excursion to the food market before the start of the week and, I've not once opened a pre-packaged meal as a last minute fix for my kids.   I made a commitment to prepare every meal fresh for my kids. The New Atkins Cookbook: 200 Easy New Recipes

Last week I attended the lunch event for the book launch The New Atkins For a New You Cookbook hosted by famed Chef Donatella Arpaia and Colette Heimowitz, VP of Nutrition and Education for Atkins.  I must admit, I was definitely a bit skeptical supporting the Atkins brand, as my current impressions are still steeped in the controversy that swirled around in the early 1980's when the diet was deemed the bacon, eggs, and cheese fad diet.  I was all ears as I entered the room, as I cynically thought to myself, no carb-loving mom would ever … [Read more...]

A common side effect to lack of planning?  Re-gifting. Come on.  Don’t you have that drawer somewhere in your home?  You know, that drawer … [Read more...]

Wake Up Call: Life is for the Living

This week I had to travel to my hometown unexpectedly to help my father recover from some complex back surgery. I cherish the feeling of being needed and being able to help.  I am the baby of the family and I was always babied growing up. However, at this point in my life, the tables have turned; my roles seem to have morphed into taking care of my children as well as my parent(s) whenever I can. Selfishly, I do not enjoy going home and staying in my old house without Mom being there - it's merely a hollow shell of a home that was … [Read more...]
