Now that Bake it Happen has officially come to an end (I will announce results from the campaign this week), I’m back to my normal grind. A piece of my Sunday afternoons is usually reserved for my weekly meal planning. It helps alleviate any added stress during those frenetic afterschool hours. Final Day for #Bake it Happen!
It's the LAST day of our month-long Bake it Happen campaign for breast cancer research. My sister and I are completely overwhelmed from the mass participation this year. It's so meaningful for us to have received pictures of Bake it Happens from complete strangers from all over the country. From cheer leading squads to play dates, Starbuck's Baristas to high schoolteachers, everyone has enjoyed baking one of mom's famed baked goods, all in the name of breast cancer research. There's a little chill in the air. It's the kind that makes you want to lay around on a lazy Sunday afternoon. While I can't imagine having a lazy afternoon until my kids are in college, the next best thing would be to slow cook, or to make a big pot of nourishing soup-- the ultimate comfort food. I feel out of sorts posting about a soup without my friend Seriously Soupy talking about it After all, she's been preaching to us for years how easy it is to make soup. Last night for dinner my daughter and I made some Butternut Squash Soup (for the first time), and it was amazing.
